KX3 Ham Radio Deluxe Tutorial: Installing Ubuntu Server 20.04 in VirtualBox

But before you can start using HRD, you'll need to set up your virtual machine with Ubuntu Server 20.04. In this tutorial, we'll walk you through the process of installing Ubuntu Server 20.04 in VirtualBox.

Prerequisites

Installing Ubuntu Server 20.04 in VirtualBox

To start, launch VirtualBox and create a new virtual machine (VM) by clicking on 'New' under the 'Machine' menu. Follow the wizard's prompts to set up your VM, choosing Linux as the operating system and Ubuntu Server 20.04 as the version.

Next, select the amount of RAM you want to allocate to your VM and choose a storage location for the virtual hard disk (VHD). For this tutorial, we'll assume you're using an existing VHD file.

Once you've created your VM, click on 'Settings' under the 'Machine' menu to configure some basic settings. Under the 'System' tab, ensure that the VM is set to use a 64-bit operating system and that the processor count is set to at least two (you can adjust this later if needed).
